Living Water

Living Water was a stand-alone sermon we did the first weekend in January. It was a new-beginning, recommitment kind of service. We gave each member of the congregation a small piece of dissolvable paper and asked them to write something on it that they did not want to continue carrying into the new year. It might be a sin, a bad habit, etc. Since it was also our monthly communion weekend, we placed tubs of water with greenery around them at each communion station. As the people came forward to receive communion, they also had the opportunity to drop their slips of paper into a tub and watch it dissolve into the water. Then they sealed that commitment with Holy Communion. We also had a fountain on the stage so that the sound of running water was present throughout the service.
